Charles (Chuck) Bushong is a resident of Ponte Vedra as well as the owner of Bushong Insurance Associates, Inc. Chuck graduated from Miami University (Oxford, Ohio) with a BS in Finance in 1974. He is a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter as well as a Chartered Financial Consultant. Civic activities include Ponte Vedra Rotary - Sunset Chapter and the Ponte Vedra Cultural Center and the Friends of the Library. His wife, Melissa, is a native of Jacksonville. Robin Giddens Sheppard, 1st Vice President
Robin Giddens Sheppard is a third generation funeral director with Hardage-Giddens Funeral Homes in Jacksonville, Jacksonville Beach and Clay County. Robin spent 20 years with the Dept. of Health, Vital Statistics before returning to funeral service in 2004. She has varied civic experience beginning as an ex-officio member of the Bartram School Alumna Board when she served as President of the Alumna Assn. Robin has served on the Philbrick School of Funeral Service at Miami-Dade Community College and as member of the Supervisory Committee of the State Employees Credit Union then on its Board. She spent 11 years on the Medical Examiners Commission, Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement. Robin is a member of Christ Episcopal Church, The Rotary Club of Ponte Vedra Beach and serves as a Board member of the Florida Funeral Directors Assn. Greg Totten, 2nd Vice President
Greg Totten is Vice President/Branch Manager of Heritage Bank in Ponte Vedra Beach. Although Greg is fairly new to the area and to the Chamber, he has enthusiastically embraced the organization since joining. Greg was born in Rahway, New Jersey and came to Florida to attend Miami’s St. Thomas University on a baseball scholarship. He graduated in 1980 with a B.A. in Management and began his career with Miami’s Federal Reserve Bank. Later, Greg went to work for Barnett Bank and after five years there, was hired by Miami’s Mellon Bank. There he spent 18 years serving in various capacities including Vice President/Branch Manager of their Aventura Branch. Early last spring, Greg moved to Ponte Vedra Beach to run Heritage's branch here. He and his wife Yolanda have three children. Derek Prince, Treasurer
Derek Prince is the owner of Bogey Grille and also the Director of Operations for four Cross Creek Restaurants in the Jacksonville area. He grew up in Boca Raton and attended Campbell University and the University of South Carolina. Before beginning his restaurant career, he served in the U.S. Army. Deborah Henson, Secretary
Deborah Henson is currently Vice-President and Office Manger for CNLBank’s new Ponte Vedra office. Born and raised in Rockville, MD, she moved to Bradenton, FL, in 1983 where she began her 18 year banking career. A 2005 graduate of The Graduate School of Banking at Louisiana State University, she was formerly the Banking Center Manager at Peoples 1st Community Bank. She is married to Joel and has two children. She was formally on the Chamber Board and served as its President from 2000-01 and also was a member of the original WineFest committee. Brett Duncan, Immediate Past President
Brett Duncan is the owner of the UPS Store in Tournament Plaza and another in The Shoppes of Palm Valley. He was born in Pendleton, SC and worked with his father there for 12 years in their family-owned furniture restoration business. Later he operated the Pendleton Stripping Company for another eight years before coming to the beaches area in 1988. His dedication to his customers and to his community helped both businesses thrive. He lives with his wife Liz and daughter Bailey at the beach and is active in Beaches United Methodist Church. Malcolm Anthony, Board Member
Malcolm Anthony is a lifelong resident of the Beaches moving to Ponte Vedra in 1988. A graduate of Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK in 1980, he graduated from O. W. Coburn School of Law in 1983. He was a prosecutor in Duval and St. Johns counties assigned Special Economic, Public Corruption and Arson crimes. He opened his private law practice in Ponte Vedra Beach in 1994 with a criminal defense specialty. In 2004, he hosted "Malcolm in the Morning," a radio talk show dedicated to the law, politics and religion and hopes to return to the airwaves soon. He is married to Andrea, a CPA, and they have two girls, Kate and Elizabeth, and a new son, Justin. Malcolm Anthony, P.A.
Darby Brower , Board Member
Darby Brower was born in Jacksonville, but relocated with his family to Bucks County, PA where he spent his early years. He attended Virginia's Washington & Lee University and obtained his bachelor's degree in 1985. Upon his graduation from college, Darby joined NCNB to work in its commercial sector. A promotion to manager of the NCNB Private Banking office returned him to Jacksonville in 1987. Darby moved to Lincoln Financial Advisors in 1991 where he was a financial planner and employee benefit consultant. In 2003, Darby merged his individual practice with long-time friend and associate, Will Montoya, and formed Montoya Brower & Associates. They reorganized the firm in 2005 establishing two distinct business units. Vincent Grassia, Board Member
Vincent Grassia has spent the past 12 years with Journal Community Publishing and now serves as Group Publisher for all of the company's Florida properties including the Ponte Vedra Recorder. He grew up in central New Jersey and is a BA graduate of Rutgers University. Vincent is active in the Ponte Vedra Rotary Club, serves on the Board of Directors of Community Papers of Florida, is a former Board Member of the Florida Press Association and is the national chairman of the March of Dimes Committee for PaperChain. Craig Hamilton, Board Member
Craig Hamilton and his wife Susan have owned Pineapple Post since 2001. Prior to owning the gift and stationery store, he worked for Merrill Lynch and various investment and financial service companies in Jacksonville. He has served on the Episcopal High School Alumni Board and as a Learn To Read tutor. Craig is a sixth generation Jacksonville native and has lived in Ponte Vedra Beach since 1986. Bill Hughes, Board Member
Bill Hughes currently the General Manager of TPC Sawgrass, has joined our Board of Directors. He has been in the TPC Network since 1996 and has been the General Manager at TPC Southwind, River Bend and Craig Ranch. In 2002, Bill was promoted to Regional Director, Operations, responsible for oversight of the TPC at Craig Ranch, Southwind, Sugarloaf and Wakefield Plantation. He turned professional in 1979, worked as a Head Professional at Shawnee Country Club in Lima, Ohio and later accepted the position of General Manager/Director of Golf at Country Acres Golf Club in Ottawa, Ohio. Bill has been a member of the PGA of America since 1984 and a PGA Master Professional since 1995. He was born in Ohio and attended Bowling Green University. Michael Lenahen, Board Member
Michael Lenahen is the president and owner of Aurora Custom Homes, Inc.. His company builds high-end custom homes in many of the upscale locations in the Beaches area. He is also president and owner of Aurora Custom Remodeling, Inc., performing large-scale residential renovation projects throughout the Beaches. Michael has resided in Ponte Vedra Beach for over 20 years with his wife, Debbie, and has two teenage sons, Brian and Christopher. He has devoted many years to coaching youth soccer and baseball in Ponte Vedra Beach. Michael is currently involved with the Boys Scouts of America, after serving in many positions with the Cub Scout program. Mark Slyter, CHE, Board Member
Mark Slyter, CHE, is now the administrator for Baptist Medical Center Beaches having previously served as the Vice President of Operations for Baptist Health. He holds a master's in health services and a BS in exercise science from the University of Kansas. Before coming to Baptist Health, Mark was the administrator of Greenville Hospital Systems in South Carolina. He also previously served as the Chairman of Baptist Health United Way Campaign. Doug Smith, Board Member
Doug Smith Doug Smith received a BA. degree in Political Science from the University of Georgia and a Doctor of Law degree from Emory University. For 25 years, Doug practiced law in Atlanta and still maintains an active license with the State Bar of Georgia. In Florida, he is a Licensed Title Agent and a Real Estate Broker. Doug received an honorable discharge from the U. S. Navy Reserve as a Lieutenant in the Judge Advocate General's Corps (JAG). Currently Doug is the Vice President of Gate Title Company, a subsidiary of Gate Petroleum.
